Learning and Mastering English
The right way at your own pace
Language has been a major part of the culture of people. A spoken language corelates with the way people think and act. When learning another language the learner does not only learn to speak, read and write but also need to be immersed in the culture of that language to be able to fully understand how people who speak the language think and react to situations.
One source mentioned that when preparing for the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) the candidate should be familiar with the culture of the English speaking world. That requires a full immersion to the community which indicates that in the language learning field, experience is the best teacher. There are differences in the way native speakers of English teach their language with those of non-native speakers. This site’s author has personally witnessed and observed both and saw these differences which helped in coming up with the correct way of teaching and learning English.
On this site we will help learners of the English language become familiar with the different rules and principles that they need to keep in mind while learning it. These rules were created by non-native speakers of English who learned it both by total immersion and from academic institutions. These will guide learners as they immerse themselves in the English speaking communities. If it is not possible to be immersed physically in a community where the English language is spoken, we have abundant ways of doing so such as social media, English movies and other materials for reading and listening. While doing so, try to keep in mind the principles and rules you will be learning from us, and observe how they are used in the material that you read, listen to or watch. It is also suggested that when watching movies in English, do not use sub-titles as these distract your listening skills which also helps in developing your speech organs get attuned to the correct pronunciation of the words and sentences that you are supposed to learn.
But why do we need to learn the English language? Because it is a global language used for communication between different countries, regions, cultures, political and social boundaries. One source mentioned that “English is the most commonly spoken language in the world. One out of five people can speak or at least understand English. It is considered as the language of science, aviation, computers, diplomacy, and tourism.“* Another source mentioned that “English is the world’s “second language”. While Chinese Mandarin and Spanish are the mother tongues of more people overall, most people in the world choose to learn some English after their native language.“* We hope that this information whetted your appetite to start, or continue, and love learning the English language.
Enjoy your continuous learning.
